THE SUITCASE

There is a suitcase in my hand.
It’s filled with rocks and chains.
They are the weigh from my life’s trials,
That, in my heart, remains.
It hinders all I try to do.
It makes me slow and weak.
It is a wall that keeps me from
The purpose that I seek.
And so one day, I closed my eyes.
I bowed my head and prayed.
Dear God, won’t You have mercy
On this creature that You’ve made?
I felt something inside my heart
That overcame my strife.
God said, Enter the water,
And I will change your life.
But God, this heavy burden
Is sure to weigh me down.
If I go into the water,
I’m sure that I will drown.
God said, By your own understanding,
You accumulate that weight.
And it’s by what you think you know,
That you might seal your fate.
You stand before Me, broken,
With that suitcase in your hand.
You put that weight in there yourself.
But that was not My plan.
There was a lesson in your trials,
For you to learn and grow.
But instead of learning something new,
You trusted what you know.
This world is but a tiny speck.
A pebble in the sea.
But it is all you’ll ever know,
Unless you follow Me.
There is no limit of My love
And mercy to receive.
Just spurn the wisdom of this world.
And let your heart believe.
So, with my suitcase in my hand,
I walked into the sea.
I said, Please take me as I am,
And I will follow Thee.
The suitcase that had held me down,
Began to bob and float.
The trials I had faced in life,
Had now become my boat.
