A Christian man, who had passed on,
Now stood before the Lord.
Two books were there, the Lord would use
To determine his reward.
The first book listed his good works.
All kingdom tasks he’d done.
Things done in love and purest heart,
To those he’d blessed and won.
The other book held all his sins.
Each page completely blank.
Christ said, Because I died for you.
And you have God to thank.
An unsaved man who stepped up next,
His book of sins held many.
The second book of his good works,
Showed that there were not any.
He told the Lord, he’d done good works.
He asked, how this could be.
Christ said, Your good works count for nought.
They were not done in Me.
