I walk along the silent road.
Unto the well, alone.
For no one wants my company.
Even among my own.
I’ve led a life of sin and shame.
I know I can’t live down.
I cannot bear the angry stares.
My face turns to the ground.
A weary Man sits at the well.
A holy Man, I think.
He speaks to me in gentle words.
And asks me for a drink.
He tells me of my evil past.
And every sin I’ve sought.
Yet, in His voice I sense great love.
His words condemn me not.
A gift from God, He offers me,
That new life might begin.
A living Water I can drink,
And never thirst again.
I run to town, and tell the crowd,
Make haste to see the One.
The great Messiah we await.
The Father’s only Son.
